Acoustic Motorbike is a dedicated New Zealand mountain biking brand.
All products are designed in New Zealand with NZ conditions in mind and built to last. New Zealand is a mountain biking mecca, but has one of the harshest climates and a very rugged environment. If it can handle the wilds of New Zealand it will work anywhere. Likewise Kiwis are harsh on gear: If it works they thrash it, if it doesn't let me know! Acoustic Motorbike was established in 2004 by Sam Maitland Design Ltd. It started out years before making custom gear for people in the know, but grew when a market for its designs was seen. Acoustic Motorbike doesn't focus on the products that every other brand produces, but fills the gaps that they create – like a bike case that fits a DH bike and some of your gear.
About the designer
Sam Maitland Design Limited is a design consultancy that specialises in the design of outdoor equipment, for both the recreational and professional markets. It has worked with recognised NZ outdoor brands such as Macpac and Fairydown to produce new lines of equipment, as well as many new ventures seeking professional deign ability and outdoor product market knowledge to forward ideas into marketable products. The principal; Sam Maitland, has worked as a designer in the outdoor industry for over 10 years, He has been riding bikes all his life and saw the light after taking a Morrison Sidewinder over Mt Baker in the Orongorongo State forest Park in 1987. Sam now lives and works in the mountain bike heaven of Nelson.
